As Chief Financial Officer and Co-Founder, Avi Padhye is responsible for all aspects of The Filo Group’s day-to-day financial operations as well as the development of new business strategies and initiatives. What makes you passionate about the work of The Filo Group?
In this industry, there is such significant information asymmetry between landlords and wireless carriers, or landlords and lease aggregators. I feel most passionate when I’m able to apply my knowledge to balance that equation.
Having been on the “buy side” of the business, I’ve witnessed buyers leaving “benefit” on the table time and time again—whether it be in the form of money or favorable terms. While these benefits are inconsequential for acquirers/carriers, they can be quite substantial for landlords and their families.
What about The Filo Group makes you most proud?
I’m most proud of the team surrounding me at Filo. We’ve managed to accumulate a group of people with vast knowledge in every area of this industry. But, more importantly, each person’s moral compass is, without question, true north. Like any industry, there is no shortage of people who promise the moon and stars and then fall well short. We fulfill our promises and stand by our work. No matter what, I know that each of my colleagues will conduct themselves with the utmost integrity, and that gives me great pride.
What about this business makes you want to get up in the morning, and what about it keeps you up at night?
What both keeps me up at night and makes me want to get up in the morning is the how rapidly the wireless industry changes, both from a technological and a strategic perspective for aggregators and carriers. The speed of change can provide a significant amount of risk to potential clients, but it also allows me use my knowledge to not only offset that risk, but also deliver a positive outcome to my clients.
What do you personally bring to The Filo Group that is of most service to its clients?
Beyond my analytical and industry experience, I bring a sincere commitment to each client—a commitment to extract as much value as possible for them by utilizing every bit of knowledge and skill that I’ve accumulated over the last 14 years.
